Pilanesberg Luxury Lodge Safari

Our Pilanesberg luxury lodge safari departs daily from Johannesburg or Pretoria.  We have selected Ivory Tree Game Lodge or Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge as our recommended lodges. These lodges are both located inside the Pilanesberg National Park. Pilanesberg is home to the Big 5 and is malaria free.

Pilanesberg offers an excellent location for game viewing. The Park is situated in the crater of an extinct volcano and has a unique ecosystem. It is where Kalahari vegetation meets the bushveld, offering a habitat for a large variety of birds and mammals. The fact that this park is malaria free makes it accessible to most travellers, including families.

We depart Johannesburg around 11h00 to allow us to reach the lodge around midday. We arrive at the lodge in time for lunch.
After lunch, you can settle in and relax before enjoying afternoon tea and then join the afternoon game drive.
This drive is conducted in the Big 5 Pilanesberg National Park in an open game drive vehicle, allowing you the best possible views and an up-close experience with nature.
Dinner is a scrumptious affair served under the stars (weather permitting). The lodge boasts an extensive wine list and full bar, which is not included in the price.

Day 2,3

 Pilanesberg – Rhino Game Reserve

An early start gives us time to have coffee and a snack before we set off on our morning game drive. Early morning is a very good time for game viewing. We return to the lodge for a scrumptious, leisurely breakfast.
After breakfast, you have time to relax at the lodge’s pool or go for optional spa treatments. Lunch is served around 14h00.
The afternoon drive often extends into the early hours of the evening, allowing you the opportunity to spot some nocturnal animals.
The day ends with discussions around the open fire about what you saw today and the plans for tomorrow.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4

Pilanesberg – Hartbeespoortdam – Joburg

We rise early, have a quick cup of coffee and a snack and depart on an early morning drive in the hope of finding some of the nocturnal and diurnal animals before they settle down for the day.
After our morning drive, we return to the lodge for breakfast. We depart from the lodge around 11h00 and stop en-route at Hartbeespoort Dam for lunch (own expense).
Hartbeespoort Dam is a quaint resort town with loads of curio & craft markets. This is the ideal place to do some shopping. The drive back to Johannesburg takes approximately 3 hours. You should arrive back in the mid-afternoon.
